Yes, I'm one of those people who is afraid of sharing personal stuff about myself. However, my journey to becoming a professional designer is something that my hubs tells me is interesting. So, here are a few things I'm sharing about me.
5 things you may not know about this designnerd:
1 // There weren't art (or design) classes in my high school. I took one art mixed media class through a high school 30 min away from mine via TV monitors. We visited their studio once/month.
2 // I took private drawing lessons starting in the 6th grade. It was mostly still life stuff. My teacher had a lot of cats that she spoke to as if they were people. As a child with lots of farm cats, I thought this was so weird!
3 // My computer desktop is a disaster. My Dropbox is extremely organized.
4 // Literally everything I have ever designed is saved on back up hard drives. (Learned the hard way.) Before InDesign, I used Quark Xpress for all my college work. I don't even own Quark XPress now (Let's be real - I never really did own a copy of it!)
5 // There is a folder of designed posters on my computer that have never been printed and never been seen by anyone but me. Why is this? Probably, most likely, 100% fear.
Every person's journey is different and I love learning how experiences have shaped lives. Do any of the above resonate with you?
Let me know in the comments!
Cheers!
