In early 2015, I was reading through a list of podcast recommendations and stumbled across one that would change my life. It was called "Being Boss" and was created by two business owners, Kathleen Shannon and Emily Thompson, to help self-made entrepreneurs become the boss they knew they were meant to be.
Around the same time, I had just decided to enroll my baby in daycare so I could go back to work and start my own business. I was racked with mom-guilt and needed a distraction from it, so each day after I dropped her off I listened to this podcast.
The Being Boss podcast helped me believe in myself.
It reminded me that I could run my business and be a good mom. Within one week of listening, one of the hosts said out loud, "It's okay to send your kid to daycare so you can run your own business." WHAT?! I literally thought she was talking to me. She had experienced the same feelings I was going through. I’ve been hooked ever since.
I've learned so much more than I could have ever imagined from the wisdom shared on this podcast. Kathleen and Emily run successful businesses and constantly share their experiences and what they've learned with their listeners to help us avoid the pitfalls they encountered and mistakes they made. Each episode has been filled with high-quality content that is just invaluable to new business owners.
The more I learn about the hosts, their workshops, and their classes and community, the more I appreciate what they have to offer. I've met them face-to-face online and also had the pleasure of meeting them in person. They inspire me to be more of a boss in work AND in life.
And now, they have put all of their nuggets of greatness into a book called Being Boss!
In it, they share what it means to be boss, how to cultivate a boss mindset, how to establish boss boundaries, how to get paid for doing the work, and so much more!
The insights I've obtained from Kathleen and Emily are priceless (and go way, way beyond my mama woes). I've met some wonderful business owners through these two women who decided to record their conversations and share them weekly.
I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there will be at least one exercise that you will take away from their book that will inspire you to take hold of what you want in work and life - even if you do not choose the entrepreneur route.
You can pre-order the Being Boss book anywhere books are sold. And if you share your proof of purchase here, they will send you even more goodies!!!
